Marlys' Oatmeal Waffles
Submitted by: David Johnson
Here is a delicious and nutrition breakfast that doesn't have to be reserved
for breakfast, but sure smells and tastes good first thing in the morning.
This recipe has been in my ex-wife's family for years. I incorporated into my family and am now passing it on to my
fiancé's family. The kids sure love stuffing these in their mouths and if a crowd bigger than six, you will have to
double the recipe. Trust me they're usually not happy with just one waffle!
The peanut butter and fresh fruit combination is used to get our kids to eat healthier and without a fuss. There are times my
fiancé asks during the week..."When is waffle day?" Then I know the time is near to dig out this
proven recipe and make everyone's day.
Mix together:
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup quick oats
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
2 Tbsp Brown sugar
In separate bowl mix:
1 1/2 cup milk
6 Tbsp butter or oil
2 slightly beaten eggs |
|
Add wet ingredients bowl into dry ingredients bowl. Put mixture on waffle iron and cook as directed by instructions from waffle
iron or until slightly brown.
Besides syrup, this is great served with peanut butter and fresh fruit.
